RC Design 1 (Eurocode)

Reinforced concrete design to EN 1992-1-1, with EN 1990 load combinations, for students who work to the Eurocodes. The same eight lessons as RC Design 1, each on the Eurocode 2 route of a STATIX calculator.

Lessons

Who it is for

  • Students at universities and colleges that teach to the Eurocodes.
  • Graduate engineers moving to Eurocode projects.
  • Engineers who know the SA code and want the Eurocode side by side: every lesson links its twin in RC Design 1 (SANS 10100-1).

Which values the lessons use

EN 1992-1-1 leaves some values to each country’s national annex. The lessons follow the calculators’ Eurocode 2 route: EN 1990 equation 6.10 with the recommended factors, and the recommended values of EN 1992-1-1, except αcc, which is 0.85 for bending and axial load and 1.0 for shear. Each lesson says which values it uses, so you can compare them with your own country’s annex. The SA annex (SANS 51992-1-1) is a separate route on the calculators.

The STATIX tools it uses

How each lesson works

  • Learning outcomes and what you need before you start.
  • Short theory with many sketches, with clause numbers to look up in your own copy of the code.
  • Worked examples by hand, every number shown, checked against the STATIX calculators.
  • The same problem in a STATIX calculator.
  • Exercises with answers, a short self-check quiz and the lesson on one page.

Universities and colleges

Universities and colleges: one licence for the department; students sign in with their university email. Lecturers can use the lessons and the calculators in class and in tutorials.

Course material for learning. Check every value against the current codes and have every design checked by a registered professional engineer.
