Free pile cap calculator to SANS 10100
Designs a reinforced concrete pile cap: the 2 to 6-pile presets, or any pile grid or list of pile positions under the column with several ULS and SLS load combinations. Pile reactions with uplift, truss and bending steel, the top mat when a pile pulls, and the plan and section drawn. Free, no install, with a calc sheet and a bending schedule.
No install, no card. No account needed for the result; a free account opens 3 designs a month with every check, the calc sheet and the bending schedule.
What the calculator checks.
Every check is shown with its clause and a pass or fail; the full calc sheet shows the working.
- Pile reactions on a rigid cap, linear over the pile group, with the column eccentricity and the cap self-weight (SANS 10100-1 4.10.2.1); piles in tension read with the self-weight favourable
- Any layout: the 2 to 6-pile presets, a pile grid (nx × ny at its spacing) or a list of pile positions about the column
- Several load combinations: ULS combinations design the cap with one steel for all of them, SLS combinations check the piles against their capacity and tension capacity
- Truss (strut-and-tie) ties and bending at the column faces in both directions, the Table 23 minimum steel and the bar spacing
- The top mat when a pile is in tension or the cap hogs, sized and drawn on the plan and the section
- Beam shear on every pile row with the 2d/av enhancement and its face limit, punching at the column and on the pile perimeter, and bar anchorage past the outer piles
Codes: SANS 10100-1 cl. 4.10 (pile caps), BS 8110-1 cl. 3.11; Eurocode 2 (EN 1992-1-1) on the 2 to 6-pile presets

Short answers.
About this free calculator.
Is the pile cap calculator free?
Yes. The design, every check and the result are free to use, signed in or not.
Do I need an account?
No account is needed to design: the checks and the result show on the page, with a summary calc sheet. A free STATIX account opens 3 designs a month: every check, the calc sheet and the bending schedule of one calculator for 24 hours. No card is asked for.
Can I enter my own pile layout?
Yes. Choose a pile grid and give the number of piles and the spacing each way, or give the pile positions as x, y pairs about the column centre. The cap is the rectangle round the piles plus the edge overhang.
How are several load combinations handled?
Each ULS combination is designed with the same bottom steel, so the steel drawn and scheduled is checked for every combination; each check shows the combination that governs it. SLS combinations check the piles only. Without an SLS combination the piles are checked on the ULS loads.
Which codes does the general layout use?
SANS 10100-1 and BS 8110. The Eurocode 2 route covers the 2 to 6-pile presets; for a general layout it reports the cap strength as not checked.
